Repurposing onshore assets for a cleaner maritime fuel.

Our client has now brought the project in-house, pursuing engineering feasibility studies and strategic alignment.
OBJECTIVE
Our client came to us to identify non-traditional oil and gas revenue streams that would leverage existing assets and build positive community sentiment. The focus was on an asset in Outback Australia nearing the end of its operational life.
SOLUTIONS
Over a 9-month period, we engaged in ideating, researching, and collaborating, including deep dives into the latest technology and validation meetings with experts. This comprehensive effort uncovered a series of viable opportunities, which included options in the space industry, data centres, protein markets and international energy opportunities. The most exciting opportunity cleverly leveraged the abundant natural resources of the region.
We demonstrated that our client could produce green ammonia by repurposing most elements of their existing asset. The unique attributes of this asset meant that this could be done faster and cheaper than competitors, and with an affordable yet meaningful first development step.
Green ammonia is poised to become a high-demand fuel, ideal for shipping. Producing it at scale would position our client as a key player in decarbonising the Asia-Pacific region. This opportunity has the potential to have a huge impact on environmental sustainability as well as tapping into a large and growing market for sustainable fuels.
